How does the laser remove a tattoo or pigmented spot? |
| |
The laser energy targets the unwanted pigment and breaks it up without damaging the skin. The broken up ink/ pigment is harmlessly removed by the body. This results in a gradual fading. Multiple treatments may be required to remove the tattoo/ mark completely. |

How many sittings will it require? and what is the time interval between sittings? |
| |
Most common pigmented lesions can be removed in less than 3 sittings. Sometimes, if the area of treatment is large, it may be done in parts to avoid excessive discomfort. In most cases the treatment sessions are done 5-6 weeks apart. This leaves sufficient time for the skin around the treated area to recover, so that additional treatments don't damage the skin. |

Is the procedure painful? |
| |
There may be a slight discomfort. Prior application of anesthetic creams however reduces the discomfort. After the procedure, there may be a slight burning sensation in the treated area.
Some crusting and redness of the skin could occur following the treatment and heals within 1-2 weeks. After the redness subsides, the skin returns to its natural texture and color. Occasionally there may be tiny bleeding points in the treated area. |

What is the post procedure care? |
| |
The area should be kept clean and scrubbing should be avoided. An antiseptic cream is to be applied till the skin heals fully. The area may be covered with gauze, if necessary, to keep the ointment from getting onto clothing. Sunscreen is applied if the treated area is exposed to the sun. |
