Skin Peels |
|
| |
 |
What is Skin Peel and how does it help? |
| |
Peel is a simple and popular skin rejuvenative and maintenance treatment which uses a chemical to dissolve and peel off the dead outer skin layers and dust/ grime deposits. It is quick, with no downtime. Peels help cleanse the pores and surface layers of the skin, stimulate production of collagen in the skin and smoothen out the skin giving it a glow and brightness. It improves skin texture, and reduces uneven pigmentation, fine lines and scars. There are different types of peel, based on the chemical used and the depth of the peel. Glycolic peel is one of the commonly done peels. |

Is one session sufficient? How often should it be done? |
| |
No, one session is not enough to see any significant improvement, though the benefit to the skin starts from then itself. .About 4-6 sessions, repeated every 2-3 weeks generally give good results. It can be done on a regular basis in place of routine facials. |

Who can benefit from glycolic peel? |
| |
It can be used in a normal skin as a regular skin care regimen. . It helps control active acne due to its deep pore cleansing and exfoliative effect. It improves the texture of the skin by stimulating the production of new cells thus reducing dark pigmentation, wrinkles and scars. So it is useful in treating sun-damaged skin, mild acne-scars and skin with ageing changes. They are however not useful for deep wrinkles and sagging of the skin. |
| |
|
 |
Is it painful? |
| |
There is some tolerable stinging or burning sensation for a while till the peel is neutralized. |
|
| |
 |
Is it safe? |
| |
It is very safe since Glycolic peel is a superficial peel and hence does not scar the skin and needs very little post service care. Some short term redness, flaking or crusting may occur which resolves in 2-3 days. Post-peel, you should use a moisturizer and a sunscreen and avoid too much sun exposure for a few days till the skin healing is complete. |

| Microdermabrasion |
| |
 |
What is Microdermabrasion? |
| |
Microdermabrasion is a gentle, painless procedure to remove the outer dead layers of the skin. It makes the skin soft and youthful with a healthy glow. It evens out skin tone and also reduces fine lines and wrinkles. |
|
| |
 |
How does it work? |
| |
It mechanically removes the outer dead layers of the skin using a stream of fine inert microcrystals and the debris is then vacuumed off.
It is a very good alternative to facials. In fact it not only gives immediate results, but over a few regular sessions has a more permanent beneficial effect on the skin by stimulating increased support (collagen fiber) for the skin. This technique is also called as a "lunchtime peel" because there is no downtime associated with it and you can continue with your usual daily routine. |
|
| |
 |
Who can undergo microdermabrasion? |
| |
It can be done on most skins, except when there is obvious infection, severe reaction, or sunburn of the skin. It can be used on normal skin to enhance it. It can also be used for problem skin to reduce the acne, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles. |
|
| |
 |
Is it painful? |
| |
No, it is not painful. There is feeling of mild friction and rubbing on the skin along with some suction. |
|
| |
 |
What should I do before the treatment? |
| |
Stop scrubs, exfoliants and other skin care creams to the skin for 2 days prior to the treatment. |
|
| |
 |
How long does the treatment take? |
| |
Each session usually lasts 15- 30 minutes depending on the area treated, some extra time being given to the problem areas. |
|
| |
 |
What are the post procedure precautions? |
| |
It is safe to reapply your makeup and/or facial moisturizer following the procedure. You should avoid direct sun exposure of the treated area for the first 24 hours following a treatment. |
|
| |
 |
How soon will I see results? Is a single session sufficient? |
| |
Soon after the treatment your skin will appear light pink with a soft smooth texture and increased clarity. Acne scars and fine lines of the skin become less obvious. There is increasing improvement over a series of sessions.Treatments are usually performed in a series of six, at one to two week intervals. Later on, you can have maintenance treatments every four to six weeks. |
