Botox is equally effective in men and women. It is not recommended during pregnancy, lactation and in those with neuromuscular disease. |
| |
How is it done? |
| |
Small doses of Botox are injected into specific areas of the face to weaken the overused muscles. The treatment takes about 10-15 minutes |
| |
Is the effect permanent? How many sessions are required? |
| |
The effect begins to be seen in 3-4 days and the full effect takes about 1-2 weeks, at which time a follow up and a touch up injection may need to be given. Fillers |
| |
What are fiilers used for? |
| |
Fillers are injected into the skin to restore its volume thus correcting moderate to deep wrinkles and folds of the skin. It gives a more youthful look to the skin and the results are immediate and long-lasting. It is also used for enhancing the lips. |
| |
How long does it take? |
| |
It requires no hospitalization or pre-testing and takes less than 30 minutes. You can return to your routine activities after the procedure. |
| |
Are they safe? |
| |
Yes. Tests have shown that these fillers are non-toxic, non-allergic, do not move and do not cause tissue hardening.
Temporary fillers (like restylane, Perlane, Esthelis) are made up of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. They last for about 6 months in the body and are degraded by the body over that period, whereas permanent fillers like polyacrylamide are not degraded by the body, hence remain in the tissue permanently. |
| |
What are fillers suitable for? |
| |
-Nasolabial folds, smile lines, marionette lines, and downturned corners of the mouth can be corrected with fillers.
-Lip Enhancement
-Cheek and chin augmentation
-Acne scars and scar treatment |
| |
How is it done? |
| |
With sterile precautions and after skin cleansing, the crystal-clear gel is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. The gel then gives natural volume, lifts up and smoothes thel wrinkles. The results are immediately visible, and the implant feels like a natural part of your face. |
| |
Is it painful? |
| |
There is only minimal discomfort during the injection. For deeper folds like the Nasolabial fold and for enhancing the lips, local anesthesia may be used. |
| |
What are the side effects? |
| |
Some common injection related reactions such as swelling, redness, itching and tenderness may occur at the site. These typically resolve within one or two days after injection into the skin and within a week after injection into the lips. |

Face Lifts |
| |
Non-surgical face-lift |
| |
It uses electromagnetic wave energy to treat skin laxity by facial tightening, and is best suited for patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial skin. |
| |
What are the indications for Non-surgical face-lift? |
| |
The effects of gravity and loss of skin elasticity contribute to nasolabial folds, jowls, and drooping brows in the face and to skin folds in the neck and under the chin. Non-surgical face-lift is commonly used to treat the forehead (lifts the brows and tightens the forehead skin), under the eyes (tightens and lifts the upper cheek skin), cheeks (tightens the skin and diminishes enlarged pores), jaw line (diminishes the jowls and sagging along the jaw line), and the neck (tightens skin and reduces the wrinkles). It also lightens the skin and reduces the pigmented spots in the skin. It is used for active acne to help a faster healing of large red pimples on the face. |
| |
How does it work? |
| |
First, the heat generated by radio waves shrink the bundles of collagen under the skin. The shortened collagen bundles then pull the skin tight. The second phase begins as the body responds by producing more collagen. The skin tightens and the overall look is further improved. |
| |
What will I notice after the treatment? |
| |
An Immediate lifting effect is seen after the treatment and may last a week.
Redness and mild swelling may last 1-2 hours. In 3-4 weeks, there is contraction of supporting connective tissue giving a firmer look to the treated area. With repeated treatments at 2-4 week intervals, sustained lifting effect is noted and there is a gradual improvement in firmness & contour of the skin. |
| |
Are there any contraindications? |
| |
It is generally not indicated in people with reduced skin sensation and in pregnant women. It is definitely contraindicated in people with electrical devices such as pacemakers or metal implants like artificial metal hip joints, heart valves, dental plates. This is because the RF current may interfere with these devices, or heat up metal implants. |

Photorejuvenation |
| |
What is Photorejuvenation? |
| |
Photorejuvenation uses IP light to stimulate the skin to regenerate thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The response occurs over a period of time, and the skin will gradually take on a more youthful and healthy appearance. |
| |
What are the visible changes in the skin due to ageing and why do they happen? |
| |
There is a breakdown of the supporting tissue of the skin, mainly the collagen and elastin fibers. These are not replaced fully, leading to thinning and wrinkles which deepen with passage of time. Sun exposure accelerates the ageing process and gravity adds progressively increasing sag to the skin. There is also reduced elasticity and moisture in the skin as you age. Years of sun exposure lead to the development of freckles, brown spots. There may be larger areas of blotchiness due to uneven skin tone, on the face, neck, hands, arms and chest. These pigmented lesions are also referred to as age spots. |
| |
How does IPL help in treating the ageing changes in the skin? |
| |
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) stimulates the skin to produce new support (collagen) which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is absorbed by the pigment in discolored lesions. It causes the pigment to break up. Initially, the treated lesions appear slightly darker. However, over a period of about 7-10 days the lesions begin to develop a fine crust, which flake off, leaving the underlying skin smooth and fresh. Most pigmented lesions can be removed in one or two treatments. Larger or deeper lesions may require more treatments. |
| |
How many sessions are required for a significant effect? |
| |
IPL photorejuvenation usually requires about 6 treatments at intervals of 2-3 weeks. The response occurs gradually over a period of time, and the skin will gradually take on a youthful and healthy appearance. |
